Alright folks, here it is, Johnny Ramirez and Clint Crabtree competing in the 2010 Arnold Sports Festival Jiu Jitsu event, lightweight division. As we know, Johnny won the event, but it’s definitely worth watching these two highly skilled competitors going at it.
As you saw, the match went on for a good length while these two carefully sought the better positioning. And while Clint Crabtree definitely knew what he was doing, Johnny’s experience and expertise were just too much for him. There’s a serious advantage to having the most popular Jiu Jitsu academy in L.A.
It’s nice to see Jiu Jitsu represented in the Arnold Sport Festival. It originally started just as a one day body building competition, and just grew progressively with each successive year. With Jiu Jitsu being recognized as it’s own sport in large national events such as this, it can only be a matter of time until it is accepted in the Olympics. Let’s hope for Jiu Jitsu in the 2016 Olympics in Rio. The Arnold Sport Expo already includes 12 Olympic Sports, maybe someday it will be 13.
The Arnold Sports Festival 2011 will be held March 3-6 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. Tickets are only $10 a day, and it’s a great way to see some awesome amateur and professional competitors from all over the country. And you only have 292 days before it starts, so you better get ready!
But seriously, Johnny will most likely go for the gold again next year, so if you live in Ohio, you’ve definitely got something to look forward to.
