Previously, we discussed the various methods of treatment for minor sports injuries, but today we would like to talk about how you can prevent those injuries from occurring. There are several safety precautions that you can take in order to ensure that your fitness routine goes along safely and smoothly at New Breed Academy. Whether you are participating in cardio kickboxing, strength and conditioning, grappling and wrestling, or our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes in Portland, our professional instructors want your fitness routine to be a safe and fun experience.
Follow These Golden Rules Every Time You Workout:
- Stretch to warm up and cool down. Stretching not only prepares your muscles for a labor-intensive workout, but it also helps to prevent injury. Stretching after your fitness routine will also reduce soreness of muscles the following day.
- Wear the appropriate protective gear: Always wear comfortable clothing when you workout. You should wear a very good pair of tennis shoes as well as clothing that allows for easy movement and flexibility. If your instructors recommend any protective gear, such as mouth guards, boxing gloves, or protective headgear, be sure to wear them.
- Do not overuse a muscle: If you are just beginning your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes in Portland, or if you are returning to one of our fitness programs after an extended period of time away, it is important not to overuse your muscles.
